‍How Storyboarding Helped Overcome Challenges

The project followed two UK-based travel influencers as they explored some of the most iconic locations in New Zealand’s North Island. However, we faced a significant challenge: there was no time for a location recce. This meant we had to rely solely on research and remote planning to understand the destinations we would be filming. Additionally, securing permits for each location added another layer of complexity to the pre-production process.

With multiple locations, unpredictable weather, and a packed shooting schedule, storyboarding became an essential part of our production strategy. Here’s how it made a difference:

• Visual Planning: By mapping out each shot in advance, we could determine the best angles, compositions, and sequences to bring the script to life.
• Efficient On-Set Execution: With a clear shot list and visual references, our team and the influencers knew exactly what was needed, minimising delays and maximizing shoot time.
• Seamless Communication: Storyboards helped align the vision between our team, the agency, and Air New Zealand, ensuring everyone was on the same page before filming began.
